Thank you to everyone who emailed to say how much they missed receiving my e-newsletters last year.
Well they are back! New year, new name, new look. Same passion and dedication to helping make the world a safer place for all children.
2010 saw me training all over the state; from Albany, Beverley, Narrogin, Woodanilling, Boddington and Pingelly in our South, to Boulder in the East; and Wiluna, Fitzroy Crossing twice and Mulija in our North. I was also invited to run workshops in Melbourne and Adelaide for childcare providers and spent another week out in Hermannsburg.
I also had the opportunity to speak at several conferences; two Childcare Conferences in Melbourne; the Australian Health Promoting Schools Association's 8th National Conference and Early Years in Education in Perth; the 9th World Indigenous Women and Wellness Conference in Darwin; then to top it off the Protective Behaviours UK conference, from which I received wonderful feedback. I am hoping to go back this year for a month to train all over the UK.
In August I had the chance to visit New Zealand to examine their Abuse Prevention Education Program and observe it first-hand in classrooms. The New Zealand Police have written a program with the assistance of Professor Freda Briggs (educator, scholar, author, ambassador and winner of the 2000 Senior Australian of the Year). Police go into classrooms and conduct the lessons in conjunction with teachers. I had the amazing experience of seeing a 6’5” police officer sitting on tiny pre-primary chair and explaining that sometimes Mummy and Daddy might fight and Daddy might get angry, so we have to take Daddy away and give him some time out. Just priceless! I really would like to thank the New Zealand Police Department for being so accommodating to me.
I am very pleased to have Wooldridges working with me to get my products into schools and encourage everyone to support a company that helps independent publishers and embraces innovative new resources for teaching Abuse Prevention Education to children.
