Delivering training in child abuse prevention education for parents and teachers who work with, or care for children and students with special needs is an area in which we specialise. Holly-ann Martin delivers all the training for Safe4Kids and has over 30 years experience in teaching child abuse prevention education. Holly-ann’s background is teaching children with special needs, and she has a real passion for ensuring these children receive this important information. The training we provide in this area is evolving all the time. It is essential teachers, parents and carers receive the training and tools necessary to deliver these body safety messages at the appropriate level children, and students can comprehend. We have designed a complete protective education program for children aged from three to seven years and for children with special needs, to help teach these children.
Having worked extensively with children and students with special needs, Holly understands the difficulties you may experience in educating them about body safety. The training you receive will help alleviate your concerns and provide you with tried and tested teaching strategies and creative tools to help overcome difficulties you have teaching protective behaviours. Some of these innovative tools and specialised teaching resources include songs, sign language and dances, and how to use language appropriate to your child or students cognitive ability. Hopefully, these tools will not only benefit your children or students but will also give you inspiration and new ideas on how to develop your teaching resources and strategies.
The professional development training for teachers or information sessions for parents’ and carers’ are both conducted over a two hour period. There is also full-day training available for teachers which include in-class modelling of the Safe4Kids Protective Education Program, demonstration of specialised teaching resources, and Holly can also help with the development of individual learning plans specifically for child abuse prevention education.
